Casa Santos Lima is a family-owned company now in its 5th generation, founded in the late 19th century, dedicated to the production, bottling, and marketing of Portuguese wines. Present in the regions of Lisbon, Algarve, Alentejo, Dão, Douro, Vinho Verde, and the Azores, it produces wines known for their excellent quality, exporting about 90% of its total production to over 60 countries and across 5 continents.

With a broad wine portfolio, the company annually produces red, white, rosé, sparkling, semi-sparkling, light, and late harvest wines in 7 different regions. In recent years, it has been one of the most awarded Portuguese producers in the most renowned national and international wine competitions and is one of the main exporters of Portuguese wine. 

Al-Lagar

Located at the gateway to Tavira, nestled between the richness of our local vineyards and the sea, lies a centuries-old, unique, and truly authentic place. An old wine press from the late 19th century, meticulously restored to be a distinctive spot dedicated to wine lovers. Here, guests can enjoy guided wine tastings, light wine-pairing meals and vineyard tours. At Al-Lagar, we offer a memorable and authentic experience of the region.

The Vineyards of Al-Lagar

With our own vineyards planted in this area, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with maritime influence and rich soils, the conditions are ideal for a variety of red and white grape varieties. With a total of 18 varieties planted across approximately 60 hectares, each one uniquely contributes to the creation of our Algarve wines.

To accompany the wines, we offer a selection of carefully chosen and prepared local products. Artisan cheese boards and typical Algarve charcuterie, crafted by local producers. For vegetarian options, a variety of fresh and creative dips, such as chickpea hummus and avocado guacamole. A selection of typical dried fruits, perfectly paired to complement each wine tasting.

A selection of local and typical products from this region to savour later. Algarve liqueurs produced using traditional methods, the famous salt from the Ria Formosa, as well as a variety of handmade snacks, all evoke the authenticity of the region.

An outdoor space adjacent to the wine press, surrounded by Algarve’s vineyard landscape, creates the perfect setting to relax or host unforgettable outdoor events.

Watermill House

In the former support house for the wine press, restored in a traditional Algarve style, we offer more intimate rooms for events or private tastings.

Al-Lagar

Created from an old, centuries-old wine press, fully restored, we preserved the original architecture and primitive artifacts that reflect the building's original construction and functionality. A spacious and welcoming area that combines a wine bar, a large tasting room, and a wine shop.
